CRICKETERS AS GUESTS

Many Young People Attend Truby King Club Dance

Added interest to the dance of the Truby King Club in Wellington on Saturday night was given by the presence of Sir Julien and Lady Calin I and their party, who were the special guests of the club, together with members of the visiting English cricket team and the New Zealand team. They wore received on arrival by Miss Kathleen Hayes, secretary, aud conducted to a specially-arranged lounge in the corner of the ballroom in the .Mayfair Cabaret. Bowls of vivid asters were arranged in corners, and massed blue and pink hydrangeas and scarlet gladioli added splashes of colour to an already colourful scene. Lady Cahn wore a gown of black georgette under a silver fox cape. The colours of the two cricket teams were carried out in intertwined paper streamers festooned round the walls. Clusters of balloons hung at intervals round the room, and more balloons in odd, humorous shapes, stood ou the tables. Alassed flowers, fern, and toi toi grasses decorating the central ledge lof the ballroom were effectively lit from below with glowing amber lights. Alany large parties of young people were present aud danced to spirited music supplied by an excellent orchestra. The Lambeth Walk and Palais Glide were among popular encores. A savoury buffet supper was served, the tables being decorated with shallow glass bowls of pink carnations and vases of mauve asters. The committee who arranged this very successful dance were Misses Kathleen Hayes, Patricia Alacnamara, Joy Coad, Bobby Hope Gibbons, Alessrs. Al. Christie. W. Coombs, D. McGill, and T. R. Ryan.
