“Roberta” as a Film
OULMINATING weeks of intensive preparation, “Roberta,” the musical comedy special, based upon the New York stage hit, has gone into production at the RKO Radio studios in Hollywood. Irene Dunne, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are the stars of the film. Randolph Scott has the romantic leading role opposite Miss Dunne, and Helen Westley has the featured char actor role of Roberta, famed Parisian modiste. With new numbers by, Jerome Kern as melody highlights, '“Roberta” will feature the singing of Miss Dunne and the dancing of Astaire and Miss Rogers. It will also present a lavish fashion display, plan ted as the most elaborate and colourful presentation of feminine modes ever brought to the screen. “Roberta” is at present being played on the stage in Melbourne by a J. C. Williamson company, headed by Madge Elliott and Cyril Ritchard, Ethel Morrison, Marie La Varre and Frank Leighton.
