Legislation Will Be Ready When House Meets
MR. COATES’S STATEMENT

Auckland, January 31
The principal business to be considered by Parliament when it resumes on February 13 will be the national mortgage proposals, and the Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, stated to-day that he would have the draft legislation ready for Che House when it met. . The preparation of legislation which will provide for the establishment of a National Mortgage Corporation and the provision of machinery necessary to stabilise mortgage investment in the future, has called for the close attention of Mr. Coates and his expert advisers.
In view of the national importance of the problem and the many interests to be considered,. Mr. Coates has deemed it advisable to djscuss his proposals with representatives of leading organisations and institutions in the main centres, the last of these meetings having taken place in Auckland on Wednesday.
