Lord Baden-Powell and Girl Guides
Sir, —In your issue of January 25 there appears an interview with Mr. J. R. Kirk, M.8.E., chairman of the Dominion Council of the Boy Scouts Association, in which he alluiles to the forthcoming visit to New Zealand of the Chief Scout and Chief Guide, Lord and Lady BadenPowell, and says that Lady hopes to see as many Guides as possible while the Chief Scout “hopes to lessen the number of rainbow trout.”
May I point out that the Chief Scout is the founder o£ the Girl Guides as wed as of the Boy Scouts, and he has already signified his intention of attending at least one of the rallies to be held in honour both of the Chief Scout and Chief Guide. In view of the fact that Lord Baden-I'owell is coming to this country primarily for a holiday, the Guides of New Zealand are keenly aware of the honour being conferred upon them by their founder.—l am, etc., RUTH HERRICK, Chief Commissioner for New Zealand.
