WATER SUPPLY LOW

-4 Dunedin’s Serious Position POSSIBLE HEALTH DANGER By Telegraph.— Press Association. Dunedin, January 30. Stating that he shuddered to think what would happen if the storage were not greatly supplemented very soon, Cr. W. Begg, chairman of the water committee, drew attention at tlie meeting of tlie City Council to-night to the urgent need for economy in the use of water. The present storage was stated to be SO million gallons, and Cr. Begg also pointed out that the imposition of restrictions had reduced the daily consumption from 5.0 f >o,ooo gallons in November to 3,892,000 at the present time.

The difficulty was that the reservoirs did not have to fall much lower to reach the point when danger to the public health might result. There was also the probability of the reservoirs being inadequate for fire fighting.
