ANNUAL PICNIC
Wellington Gas Company
Between seven and eight hundred people attended the picnic of the AVellington Gas Company at Alaidwtone Park yesterday. An excellent programme of sports had been arranged, and the children, who weile all supplied with toys, had a I’iiiicli and Judy show for their special benefit. Among those present were the manager. Air. .AL J. Kennedy, and the engineer, Air. .L Hungerford. Ollici.llei included the following: President of the picnic committee. Mr. 11. AVoolcott; secretary. Mr. AV. Blake; treasurer. Mr. J. 'Teague. The following are the results of the sports: — IOOj-ds.: C. Mulholland, 1; L. Smallbone, 2. Single women’s race: Aliss Braniley, 1; MUs 'O’Meara, 2. Married men's race: XV. Baker, 1 : J. McGuirk, 2. Married women's race: Airs. Kane, 1; Mrs. Morrison. 2. Egg and spoon race: J. MeClymont. 1 : E. AA’. Smith. 2. Elopement race: Miss Hedges, 110yds. championship: L. Smallbone, 1 : E. AV. Smith, 2. 75yds. sack race: E. Hepburn. 1; C. Lowe. 2. Relay: Miramar. 1. Three-legged race: 11. Sniallbone, 1; Mrs. Morrison, 2. Nail-driving: Airs. Hurren, 1
