YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Dull in Wellington Yesterday was a dull day in Wellington with a cool southerly breeze, and during the morning occasional showers fell. The temperature at Kelburn at 4 p.m. was 64.6 degrees and the maximum during the day 66.5 degrees. Sultry weather with overcast conditions and light showers of rain in the afternoon prevailed in Palmerston North. I'Jxtremoly humid conditions prevailed at Masterton. Toward early afternoon rain threatened, but did not eventuate, while throughout the day there was a slight: breeze from tlie north. Dull weather ruled in Wanganui, with occasional light showers. Tlie heat wave continued at Waipukurau, which had a very oppressive day. The.maximum temperature was S7deg. at 2 p.m. There was a continuation of flue weather at Auckland, a light breeze blowing from the north-north-east. Conditions were very hot. The barometer was practically steady at 29.80 in. The weather at Christchurch was rather cloudy, with a cool south-west breeze in the morning and a fresh east-north-east in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was' 66.8 deg. The barometer was steady at 29.82 in. Fine, sunny weather was experienced at Dunedin and a fresh qorth-east wind was blowing. Tlie maximum temperature was 64deg. Mr. D. G. Mawson, M.Sc, of Auckland, has been appointed lecturer in mathematics for 1935 at the University of Western Australia. Perth Ho has had a brilliant academic career, taking first place for New Zealand tn the University entrance scholarship examination in 1924, and later graduating at the University of Otago.
