SUNDAY TENNIS
Christchurch Permits Play on Conditions COUNCIL’S REGULATIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, January 28. Regulations governing Sunday tennis on parks and reserves controlled by the city council were adopted at a meeting of the city council this evening. The Council had previously decided to permit play on Sundays and at its meeting on December 3 decided that the drafting of regulations be referred to the By-Laws and Reserves Committee for a joint report. The By-Laws Committee, however, declined to draw up regulations, but reported that the Mayor had suggested regulations. These regulations, which were subsequently adopted, stipulated that play be before 10 a.m., and between 2 p.in. and 6 p.m. only, that no paid labour be employed on Sundays, that no organised competition matches be played, and that players under the age of 16 years will not be permitted. These conditions are to be considered part of the conditions governing the license under which clubs hold portions of reserves and breach of them may. it is stated in the regulations. result in concellation of the license.
