Militarising of Italy DUMMY RIFLES FOR BOYS (Received January 27. 7.20 p.m.) Rome, January 26 Laws making Italians citizen .soldiers now issued relate first to the establishment of an inspectorate to prepare pre-niiltiary and post-military training; secondly, regulations for premilitary instruction; thirdly, regulations for post-military instruction; fourthly, military cultural courses in secondary and higher schools, under which the scholars will be taught bow modern armies prepare for war. Italy’s characteristics from a military viewpoint, rhe chief facts in Italy’s victorious war from 1915-18, also shooting and map-reading, will be taught. ’ Students not promoted will not be allowed degrees until they have passed the military courses of instruction. Boys under eight will be taught chiefly gvmnastics and drilling with dummy rilles, but military training wiil be compulsqr.v in al! cases. The newspapers unanimously pay tribute to the value of military ‘raining in the forma tion of the virtues of citizenship.
