CROQUET TOURNEY
Contest For Gold Mallet SEMI-FINALS PLAYED The semi-finals in the Gold Mallet croquet tournament were played on Saturday in bright sunshine, with rather a strong wind blowing. The results of the games, are as follow : — First round: Mrs. Henderson (Wellington) beat Mrs. Ross (Wellington) ; Mrs. Morgan (Shannon) beat Mrs. Frost (Nelson) ; Mrs. Greig (Upper Hutt) beat Mrs. Cleland (Woburn) ; Mr. Bryan (Palmerston) boat Mrs. Kirk (Wanganui). Second round: Mrs. Henderson beat Mrs. Morgan. The match between Mrs. Greig and Mr. Bryan is still unfinished. In this event Mr.'Bryan suffered his first defeat in the tournament, Mrs. Greig winning the first game, and Mr. Bryan the second. The third game will be completed this morning, after which the winner will go to Mount Victoria lawn to play off the final with Mrs. Henderson (Wellington). All contestants were playing very carefully on Saturday, consequently the games were slower. Mrs. Greig’s longshooting was a feature of her game against Mr. Bryan.
