FIVE INJURED

Car Skids in Metal COLLIDES WITH POLE Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 27. Their car skiddins in loose . metal and colliding with an electric light pole on the metal road leading from Foxton to Manawatu Heads about 10.15 a.m., five people were taken to the Palmerston Nort h Hospital by the Free Ambulance with injuries to-day. The injured people were: Mrs. R. Edwards, of Palmerston North, facial injuries; Miss Marcella Edwards, facial and leg wounds, and fractured arm; Miss Josephine Hudson, scalp and leg wounds: Robert Edwards (a boy), injuries to face; Mollie Death, aged 4 (daughter of Mr. H. W. Death, Eltham), injury to right ankle. To-night the hospital authorities stated that the condition of Misses Edwards and Hudson was as good as could be expected, that of Mrs. Edwards and tiie bov fairly satisfactory, and that of Mollie Death satisfactory. The injured were attended by a doctor before being admitted to the hospital. The car was damaged considerably, and the electric power pole was broken at the point of impact. The road leading from Foxton to the beach is extremely rough over its entire length, witU deep metal on which ears frequently skid.
