Taupo and Rotorua Areas
FISH IN GOOD CONDITION
Reporting on angling conditions in the Taupo district curing the tortnight ended January 15 the conservator of fish and game at Rotorua, Mr. A Kean, has advised the Under-Secre-tary for Internal Affairs. Mr. Malcolm Fraser, that generally speaking good results were obtained in this locality, and that the fish taken were in excellent condition. Row boats with and without outboard engines were irequently in use, taking au aieiage •’ three to four fish etch trip. Dry-llv fishing n the Waikaio River above the Huk i Falls was much improved and provided catches 4 eight to ten lish per rod Gnoil n round sport was experienced in the Tokaann arya diiri.e.: the fortuigh.Limit bags were tanen mostly from the Delta locality, ami some from I lie Tongariro, which fished quite well f"i the particular time :f Hie year. Hef Excellency Lady Bledisloe enjoyed good fishing, taking one limb on the fly. Trolling parties experienced better results than hitherto in the season. Unprecedentedly g>od results were obtained in Lake Rot-rua in the vicinity of the Hamnra-.a and Awahon Streams, where limit bags weie fie quently taken The hot weather conditions and suitable winds no doubt had been the cause >f the lish coming into the wafers, which had been mad? cool by the water coining from the springs of these river.- A “sen of fish" was an expression which had recently been commonly used 'O oxnress the excellent conditions which were . still existing at these nomilnr localities.
