STORMS AND SNOW
Many Lives Lost in United States MENACE OF THE FLOODS By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received January 25, 7.30 p.m.) New York, January 24. The storm situation is increasing in gravity. One hundred people have been killed, including 13 in New York. Blizzards continue to rage from Maine to Minnesota, even Florida reporting snow. It is estimated that 1000 persons are clinging to roof-tops and trees in various parts of the country in a desperate effort to save themselves from the floods. Railwa.v services and communication lines continue to be demoralised, states a Vancouver message. The heavy snow and rain continued in the mountains, with additional snowslides since Sunday. The schools are still closed and the lowlands flooded.
