TRENTHAM FINALS
Fields For To-day PLENTY OF MATERIAL Summer & City Handicaps (By “The Watcher.”) Fields for the third and final day of the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting at Trentham to-ilay have filled exceptionally well, the average being the best of the three days. The westerly weather still prevails, but there has been no more rain since Thursday and there is every possibility that it will remain fine. The track will recover if no more rain falls. More fresh horses are engaged, while several others re-appear who have been resting since Tuesday. There are also some dual engagements so that the task of backers is not going to be easy. It never is at Trentham, but to-dayjs issues look very open. A fresh horse in Sir Spear may trouble the form runners in the highweight. Red Rufus, Palatinate and Dombey look the most likely of the others. Favourites may be Dombey, Palantinate and Sir Spear. There is a smart field in the hack live. Beau Gallante has a good horse’s weight, but he is a good one and should run well. Emissary, Capital, Harvest Moon, Acceptable, Abbey Feale and Dollar Bill can all begin and run a smart five. The best backed may be Beau Gallante, Emissary and Abbey Feale. Bun Fight will have a better chance against the two-year-olds than she did in the Stakes, while Fulojoy ami Alchemic will also be well backed. I’akanui did not improve as expected for Thursday, but he has run two fair races. Heritage, Il Duce and Nightlass are capable of bringing olf a surprise. Most money may come for Bun Fight, Fulojoy and Pakanui. Form prospects in the Melrose Handicap are numerous, Colossian, Tunneller, Travenna, Aussie Ra, Jubilee Song and Raparahara must all be considered. The best backed may be Colossian, Aussie Ra and Tunneller. Golden Wings has been treated as a non-stayer in the Summer Handicap, but he might run well, Red Manfred, Cuddle and Fracas appear certain to be the favourite trio, and Sam Smith might improve as a result of his race on Thursday, though he did not'run nearly as well as anticipated. The favourites are likely to be Fracas, Red Manfred and Cuddle. The open mile should provide a very keen contest as the, form of Cherry King, Princess Doreen, Rereatu, Luchins, Guarantee and Cyclonic warrants attention. Betting should take a wide. range here. Favourites may be .Cherry King, Rereatu and Lucidus. The form of Rerepai and Autopay stands out among the sprinters, while Diatomous may run better if the track ■ suits him, Th 6 others will have to improve. The money may come for Autopay and Diatomous. \ In the hack mile Knock Out, Red Refus, Quite Soon, Courtega, Heather Glow, Poniard and Darecourt will have chances on form. Douro Cup running may not be too reliable if the track gets back to normal. Favourites may be Knock Out, Red Rufus and Quito Soon. The programme and timetable are as follow: —
