AIR LINER FOR QANTAS

New DHB6 Plane Arrives \ Darwin, January 24. Bringing 6()01b. of air mail the new DIIS6 aeroplane for Qantas Empire Airways arrived at Darwin last evening with Captain Youell, an Imperial Airways pilot, at the controls. The machine made the crossing of the Timor Sea in 3 hours 35 minutes, averaging 148 miles an hour. Captain Youell said that the aeroplane gave no trouble. He left Paris exactly a fortnight ago The machine was the same as the other DHB6 aeroplanes which had been delivered to the Qantas company, except that the tail structures had been strengthened and the wings fitted with the latest “flaps.” which reduced landing speed and allowed landing on a smaller area.
