“Absurd!” Says the Mayor While Hie question of water was before ’tlie special meeting of tlie Wellington City Council yesterday, Cr. T. Brindle said that representations had been made to him about tlie conduct of Hie 'fhorndon baths. A man. his wife and family bad decided on 'Tuesday last to go there for a “cooler." but when they got then? they found the baths closed for cleaning. The day was very hot and it seemed strange Hint in stisli conditions Hie baths should lie closed Could not Hie baths lie closed at flight for such a purpose? "I agree witli you entirely.” said Hie Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. “It is absurd to close Hie baths at any time in such weather.” ’“They were closed on Christinas Day.” said Cr. Duncan. Tlie Mayor said that bathing facilities should lie available to the citizens nt all times. 'rhe baths could lie cleaned at night time, as they were at Nelson, Rotorua, and oilier places. He would see that word was sent to tiie Director of Parks accordingly.
