Glorious Day in Wellington After a cool night the weather iu AVellington yesterday was fine Ytnd sunny. A north-westerly wind prevailed and during the afternoon freshened. The temperature at Kelburn at 4 p.m. was 66.7 deg., and the maximum (Turing the day was 71.0 deg. 1 Overcast conditions with a cooler temperature prevailed at Palmerston North. Conditions became threatening during the late afternoon. Pleasant weather conditions prevailed at Masterton, there being bright sunshine and a light westerly breeze. The weather was fine but cloudy during the greater part of the day at AVanganui, with a fresh breeze from the south-west. The temperature dropped considerably—ss minimum and 70 maximum. Bright sunshine prevailed at AVaipukurau with a strong westerly wind. A heavy gale commenced at 2.30 a.m., easing up at daylight. The maximum temperature was 79.2 deg. at 2 p.m., falling to GTdeg. at 7 p.m. Fine weather witli a moderate southwest wind prevailed at Auckland, the conditions being much cooler than last week. The barometer rose to 29.85 in. Tlie weather at Christchurch was sunny and delightful with a moderate east-north-east breeze. Tlie maximum temperature was 70deg. The barometer after being steady rose very slightly'to 29.75 in. A moderate south-west wind and line weather prevailed at Dunedin. but the conditions were cloudy and threatening at times.
