Seatoun Tournament INTERESTING FINAL An interesting finish was seen in the final of the Seatoun Bowling Club’s Anniversary Day tournament yesterday, and it was necessary to play an extra head before P. Smith (Thorndon) emerged victorious over C. Webb (Seatoun). the score being 9-8. The winning rink was Smith (lentil, Stewart, Dixon and P. Smith (skip). Fourteen rinks were attracted from Wellington clubs by the tournament, which was played in ideal weather with perfect conditions. . Results are as follow : — First Round. Section A: C. Smith (Thorndon) met in the final after winning the A and B sections respectively, with one loss each. PORIRUA TOURNEY Newtown Rink Wins Eighteen rinks competed in the annual Anniversary Day inter-club bow’ling tournament conducted by the Porirua Bowling Club yesterday. Five games of ten heads w-ere played, Ayres, Russell, Webster, Russell ■ (s.), Newtown, tying with Craig, Rieketts, Earnshaw-, Lawrie (s.), Island Bay.’ In a five-head play-off, no decision was reached, and on a sixth head the Newtown rink took the victory. A silver cup and a roast fowl were presented to each of the winning rink by the vice-president of the Porirua club, Mr. M. O. V. Dimoch, in the absence of the president, Dr. J. U. Williams. The runners-up received a roast fowl each. Visiting players were pleased with the conditions’ of the green, and afternoon tea, served in picnic setting under the trees, added to the attractions of the day. Mr. Dimoch was green umpire, and Mr. B. Sherry tournament secretary.
