Indecency

Sir,—-Recently there have been a number of letters in "The Dominion” on the subject of "indecency” on the beaches, and to-dav there is a report of an unforlunate bookseller being prosecuted for having in his shop an “indecent” book, -Droll -Stories/’ by Balzac. It seems to me that "indecency” is really a quality of the mind (of some minds). When we have abolished all the ’ decent dress” by-laws, and made laws prohibiting all prating about “indecency.” then indecency will die a natural death. Tne Mayor' of Southport. Queensland, has set an example by declaring that beach regulations are'unnecessary. This is. I hope, n sign of a return to a more healthy attitude regarding these matters. —I am, MENS SANA,. Marton, January IS.
