TANKER ABLAZE
Vessels Going to Rescue QUICK SPREAD OF FLAMES (Received January 22, 12.59 a.m.) London, January 21. ■ The British tanker Valverda 1* ablaze 150 miles east of the Bahamas. She sent an S.O.S. at 7.10 a.m.: “Fire on deck burning fast; two lifeboats lost.” The German steamer Saarlander, the Dutch freighter Costa Rica and the Norwegian tanker Sosten are going to the rescue.
