Ministerial. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, will return to Wellington from the south to-morrow morning. The Hon. Sir J. A. Young, Minister of Health, will arrive from the south this morning. lie will go north to-night. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, has returned to Wellington after conferring with representative business men in Dunedin and Christchurch on the mortgage finance proposals' which will form the principal legislative measures when Parliament meets next month. Mr. Coates will leave to-night for Auckland, where he will continue the discussions. The Mayor, Mr./T. C. A. Hislop, lias returned to Wellington from the north, and was in attendance at the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The Rt. Rev. J. M. Liston, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, was a passenger from Wellington for the south last evening. Mr. P. Verschaffelt, Public Service Commissioner, has returned to Wellington from the south. F- IV. Ashby, stores manager for tlie Union Steam Ship Company at Sydney, was a through passenger by the Maunganui, which arrived at: Wellington yesterday from Sydney. He intends spending a holiday at Rarotonga. Mr. 11. G. Courtney, of Winchester, arrived at Wellington by tlie Remuera from London on Sunday. Mr. Courtney is an enthusiastic mountainclimber. and has had considerable experience in the Swiss . Alps. He intends leaving Wellington shortly to climb in the Southern Alps, travelling there via tlie West Coast. Mr. Cecil Jameson, the New Zealand artist, has four portraits in tlie exhibition of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, says "Tile New Zealand News." Now well established as a leading portrait painter, Mr. Jameson has proved himself in at least three of bis pictures capable of further development.
