FRANK NEIL VARIETY

At the Grand Opera House at 2.15 and 8 o’clock to-morrow and nightly thereafter with matinees on Wednesdays aud Saturdays, lovers of variety and revue will be regaled by Mr. Frank Neil’s new international company which is being presented under the direction of J. C. Williamson, Ltd., for a brief season. Of this show making its first New Zealand tour a Sydney critic wrote: —“Opening to a crowded Louse at the Theatre Royal last night, Frank Neil's ‘New Faces’ revue, in a whirl of fun and frivolity, had audience and players on terms of intimate friendship at the fall of the curtain. The personality of the entertainers delighted the audience which eventually joined in to make the show resemble a rollicking family reunion. It may be said that ‘New Faces,’ to say nothing of the new figures and acts, was rapturously welcomed. Mr. Neil’s show is accepted as representing the highest standard of modern variety entertainment. The very spirit of merriment laughs and glows in these sprightly girls and clever fellows, whose turns conform to the highest traditions of vaudeville —never tedious, never dull. That they are without trace of offence goes without saying. Stage settings of great beauty, which the producer, costuiniere, and lovely ballet girls made memorable were ’Touch of Egypt.’ ‘Melbourne in 1860.’ and ‘Life's Show Window.’ The orchestra, under Harry Lazarus, contributed to the delightful merrymaking of the show —Frank Neil’s best to' date.” European and American head-liners include Nice, Florio, and Lubow, Joey Porter, Alex Halls, the three Diamondos, Hope and. Ray, the three Ambassadors, Grace Hartington, McDonald and Graham. and h bevy of beautiful ballet girls. There will be a special matinee on Anniversary Day.
