Confers With Business Men By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, January 17. The Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, conferred to-clay with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and business interests of Otago and Southland on the subject of the mortgage finance proposals. Mr. Coates left for Christchurch this afternoon, making a stop at Timaru. lie was accompanied by the Public Service Commissioner, Mr. P. Versehaffelt, the Secretary to the Treasury, Mr. A. D. Park, the second assistant secretary to the Treasury, Mr, B. C. Ashwin, and Dr. W. B. Sutcli.
