Mae West Pictures
'THREE times as many people saw Mae West’s Paramount picture. “I’m No Angel,” her second starring , picture, as attended “She Done Him Wrong,” also from Paramount, although the latter set box office attendance records so far Ln advance of any other picture. Figures on the pictures of the blonde Paramount star, whose next picture is “Belle of the Nineties,' recently revealed that thirty-five million people paid to see “I’m No Angel,” with attendances still pouring in. At the same time it was shown that “I’m No Angel” exceeded the first Mae West Paramount picture, “She Done Him Wrong,” by three-to-one in financial grosses and in actual atidience attendance, despite the fact that the latter picture established new records throughout the world. Twelve million theatre-goers saw the first picture, statistics brought to light. The demand for “I’m v No Angel” is still so great, Paramount rec.rds showed, that initial bookings not only Include extended playing time, but create such grosses that it is frequently continued for extra weeks without a break at. first-run theatres. “Belle of the Nineties” was written by Miss West, as were the two previous pictures. Lt features Roger Pryor, John Mack Brown and John Miljan, as the leading male principals, and was directed by Leo.MeCarey, The picture is due for release early next month.
