N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE.

The New Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports that its quota was 4211 bales. Bradford was very keen and secured the bulk of the offering, but Japan, Germany and France j were also keen competitors and secured a fair share. The wool opened up in fairly good condition and growers were apparently taking more care iu having their clips classed. However, there is still (piite a number that neither class nor skirt their clips and, of course, for these competition was not so keen, and these growers would be well advised to get their clips classed in store before offering, and thus secure the fullest competition and prices. Comparing prices with those ruling at the previous sale at the end of last week, these can be quoted as firm. For fleece wool the bulk of the entry was secured by Bradford, Japan, German and Dominion mills’ representatives, while for bellies and pieces the French representatives were the most prominent buyers. For lambs’ wool, of which there was a fair entry, there was very keen competition fur well-grown lots when free from seed, and for this class Bradford, France and Australian operators secured the major portion at prices very firm on recent sales. , For three bales merino, branded Kirikiri, on account of Mr. T. C. Lowry, the company secured 13Jd.; for four bales halfbred A, branded Moawhaugo, on account of Mr. G. W. Batley, 12d. was paid, and for live bales halfbred B lid.—all three lots being secured by the Wanganui Woollen Mills. For four bales halfbred H, branded X on account of C. W. Wilson Estate, we secured lOd.; and for fifteen bales A lambs, same brand, Uid. was realised. For live bales HA A. branded Birdgrove, ou account of Mr. A. H. Maclean, GJd. was paid. For seventeen bales lIAA. branded Aranui, on account of Messrs. Collins Bros., BJd. was realised; thirty-one bales HA, same brand, made Bd.; eight bales H necks made BJU.; and nine bales A lambs, same brand, Old. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report as follows:— We submitted a catalogue of 3518 bales of which we sold SO per cent, under the hammer. There was a full bench of buyers and prices ruling at late sales were fully maintained, and in some cases prices, notably for hogget wools, showing style and quality, were Id. to Id. better. Bellies and pieces were ou a par, and crutchings appeared to be Id. to Jd. dearer. Bidding was keen and well spread, and for the most part growers had realised that the market had stabilised at these prices, and they met the market. The following are some of our realisations:—ll/R.
