MAORI BOY KILLED
Knocked Down by Motor-car ACCIDENT NEAR LEVIN Dominion Special Service. Levin, January 16. While walking along the Levin-Fox-ton main highway at about 10.15 tonight a Maori boy. Tawheta Winiata, 15 years of age, was struck by a motorcar and died from his injuries. The car was travelling from Wellington to Palmerston North, and was driven by Mr. J. G. Hetheridge. a traveller, of 30 Ashbridge Road. Napier. The accident- occurred about five miles north of Levin. Mr. Hetheridge-was passing another car at thetime. Winiata was walking on the road, and Mr. Hetheridge, who did not see him owing to the glare of the lights of the antiroachlng car. overtook him. Deceased was a son of Mr. Walter Winiata, and belonged to a well-known Maori family in the district. He had been visiting relations who live about half a mile away.
