VETERAN MOTORIST
Wellington Woman’s Distinction FIRST IN NEW ZEALAND • New Zealand’s first member of the Company of Veteran Motorists, the entrance qualification for which is 10 years’ driving without a conviction, is Mrs. E. Brown, of 20 Connaught Terrace. Brooklyn, who has just received her badge for 15 years’ blameless driving. The Company of Veteran Motorists is a British organisation, the founder and head of which is Sir Malcolm Campbell, and was recently formed in the interests of safer motoring. The badge is a silver V, the arms of which are enamelled white. At the top of the arms are the initial letters V and M, and between them is a sixpointed silver star, with a white enamelled centre on which is inserted the number of years’ driving for which it was awarded, the lowest of course, being ten. The badge is 4i inches wide, and 3$ inches high, and is designed as a radiator cap. although fittings are provided to attach it to a flat surface if this is desired. Mrs. Brown’s badge was forwarded by her son 1 , Mr. Athol W. Brown, who is at present in England.
