Preparation of Measures MR.. COATES AT DUNEDIN By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, January 16. With the object of conferring with commercial men regarding the mortgage finance proposals which the Government will introduce during the short session of l’arliamen»,commencing next month, the Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, arrived at Dunedin to-day. He said that in the time at his disposal he wished to get in touch with representatives of the various interests concerned, in order that when the mortgage bills were placed before the House of Representatives they should be as complete as possible. The proposals hacj been very fully stated in articles he had prepared for publication in December, and he could not say any more concerning them in the meantime. Mr. Coates said that every effort was being made to have the legislation ready in time for the present session of Parliament, to be resumed on February 13, the date that had been tentatively decided upon.
