Ministerial. The Prime Minister, the Rt, Hon. G. W. Forbes, will visit Christchurch tins week-end for the purpose of officially farewelling his Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, who is in Dunedin for a few days to discuss mortgage finance with representative business ,men, will confer with members of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board at Wellington next Tuesday on questions concerning the export trade. The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Postmas-ter-General, returned from Dunedin to Wellington yesterday morning. He will leave within a few days' for Rotorua and Auckland. The Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Education, returned to Wellington yesterday afternoon from New Plymouth.
The Hon. J. Bitchener, 'Minister of Public Works, returned yesterday ■morning from South Canterbury.
Sir Oecil Day, official secretary to the Governor-General, arrived in Wellington by yesterday’s Limited express. Sir Robert Anderson, of Invercargill, who has been staying at Auckland, was a passenger by yesterday’s Limited express.
Mr. G. McNamara, Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, returned to Wellington yesterday from Dunedin.
Dr. Bernard Myers, of Loudon, arrived in Wellington yesterday morning from Auckland. '
Mr. A. Tyndall, Under-Secretary for Mines, returned to Wellington from the north yesterday morning. Mr. J. Fletcher, contractor for the Dunedin Post Office, arrived in Wellington by yesterday’s Lyttelton steamer. Mr. J. Roberts, secretary of the Alliance of Labour, has been in Christchurch for, a Conciliation Council sitting. Mr. R. M. Hardy, of New Plymouth, arrived at Wellington by the Wanganella on Tuesday, after spending over three months at Sydney. Mr. F. A. de la Mare, of Hamilton, passed through Wellington yesterday on his way to the meeting of the University Senate at Christchurch.
. Mr. Beaumont Smith, Sydney, managing director of the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, Ltd., arrived in Wellington yesterday from the West Coast and Christchurch.
Professor J. Rankine Brown, chairman of the standing committee of the Academic Board of the New Zealand University, left Wellington last night to attend a meeting of the Semite which will commence in Christchurch to-day.
Dr. J. B. Condliffe. a member of the Economic Secretariat of the League of Nations, who is at present visiting Wellington, will leave on Saturday morning for New Plymouth, where he will speak at the Teachers’ Summer School. He will then proceed to Auckland to de-, part for America and Europe. Mr. R. L. Gillies, superintending engineer of the Union Steam Ship Company, will leave Wellington to-day for Auckland to join the Rangitata, which is sailing to-morrow for London. Mr. Gillies is going to the United Kingdom on business for the company, including matters in connection with the new trans-Tasman passenger liner which was ordered.
