DOUBLE DROWNING AVERTED

Near Tragedy at Miramar TWO BOYS SAVED BY ACT OF UNKNOWN RESCUERS But for the prompt action of two unknown men, a double drowning might have occurred off the Miyamar Wharf late yesterday afternoon' Two boys, Donald Moult, aged 8 years, and another boy named Paterson, aged about 12, both of whom live in Rex Street, Miramar, were on the wharf, from which they had apparently been fishing, shortly after 5 o’clock, when Paterson knocked a small fish out of Moult’s hand, with the intention of feeding it to the gulls, but this caused Moult to overbalance and fall into the sea. Paterson immediately jumped in to assist his friend; both were fully clothed. Neither could swim very well, and they were soon in difficulties. lew details concerning the rescue are available, as neither boy was able to give full details last evening, but it appears that they cried out for help, and two passers-by then dashed up, and jumped into Hie water, in their street attire, got both boys ashore, and then sent them to their homes. At home they were put to bed, and the condition of neither is serious. “I should like to know who the rescuers were,” said Mr. S. W. Moult, father of tiie younger’ boy, last evening. “Theirs was a very gallant action, ami on behalf of the parents I i should like to thank them for it. If it had not been for the prompt way in which they responded to the appeals for Help, I am afraid that there would have been a, double fatality.”
