SHIPS FOR JAPAN

4, Towing Difficulties By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, January 14. The Komata and Kaimanawa, which left port at 8.30 on Friday night for Japan, have made no progress. They anchored for the night about five miles from the Heads, and on Saturday afternoon resumed their voyage, the Komata towing the Kaimanawa. This morning they were observed to return and anchor almost in the same position. It is surmised that they are still experiencing towing difficulties, but as the sea is calm it is not clear why they should have returned.
