STUD RAM SALE

Royal Show Winner Makes Top Price, 120gns. KEEN COMPETITION Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 14. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the North Island and many from the South Island at the first annual sale of stud Southdown rams from the flock of Ellis Bros., of Killeymoon, Bulls, at the showgrounds this afternoon. The sale was conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Abraham and Williams. The first'animal offered was sold at 100 guineas, but Killeymoon Model 202 was sold to the Canterbury Seed Co. at 120 guineas, the top price of the sale. The latter animal was the winner of 16 first prizes and ten championships and six special prizes at leading shows, including the Royal Show. The other animal won first prize in a pair of shearling rams at the Wairarapa and East Coast Show, while its dam and sire had a strong record of show successes. This rani was bought by the Australian Mercantile Land and Finance Company of Melbourne. Bidding was free throughout the sale and tlie offering was sold under the hammer at an average price of 40 guineas. Of tlie 60 head which came forward for the sale only 19 head were passed, the majority of the passings being toward the end of the sale. Prices were as fallowKilleymoon.
