SOUNDS CRUISE
Practically all in sheltered waters, the Marama’s forthcoming cruise lo D’Urville Island ,and Queen Charlotte and Pelorus Sounds will give plenty of opportunity for boating, fishing bathing, launcit trips and so on. besides shipboard diversions such as deck games, talkies and dancing. Leaving Wellington at 8 p.m. on Monday, January 28 the Marania will remain out in the harbour for dancing till 11 p.m., when she will up anchor and away. Tlie first place vis'ted will he Port Hardy, called after Nelson’s Hardy, and with an imposing rock, known as Nelson's Monument, at tlie entrance. Here, in the most unfrequented part of D’Urville Island, the Tuesday will be spent.. Early the next morning a move will be made to Queen Charlotte Sound, the first objective being Ship Cove, with its great bush reserve, lovely tree-ferns, and the monument commemorating Captain Cook's visit to this spot Wednesday afternoon will find the Maramn opposite a nice bathing beach in the prettiest part of the Grove Reach near the bead of Queen Charlotte Sound. Thursday will be devoted to Pelorus' Sound, the intention being to spend the morning in the Kenepurti Arm. and to move down for tlie last evening in Tennvson Inlet—its quiet bush-surrountled waters making a romantic setting for the fancy dress ball which will be the grand finale of the cruise. From here an early start will be made on Friday. February 1. so ns 1° reach Wellington in good lime in the morning. «
