INSURANCE MANAGER
Transferred to Melbourne By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurcli, January 11. Mr. W. Harlngtou Cowper, of Christchurch, manager for New Zealand of the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Co., Ltd., has received cabled advice from the head office at Liverpool of his appointment as manager at Melbourne, with control of his firm in Victoria, South Australia, 'Western 1 Australia, and Tasmania. He is expected to assume his new duties early in March. Mr. G. T. Dawson, local manager at Wellington, will become manager for the Dominion, and Mr. W. E. Olds, until recently assistant local manager at Christchurch, will become local manager with charge of the South Island business. . Mr. Cowper, who was born in Sydney and educated at the Sydney Grammar School, joined the company’s sec--vice in 1908. On his return to Sydney in 1919 from active service with the Australian Field Artillery he was appointed local manager at Dunedin. From there he was transferred to Christchurch in 1923 as South Island manager, and in 1920 he was appointed manager for New Zealand. Since he came to Christchurch Mr. Cowper has made many friends in business and in social life. He has been a prominent member of the Christchurcli Golf Club for the last 10 years, and has represented the province in matches against Otago and Wellington.
