THAMES MEETING

Prospects For Final Day Dominion Special Service. Aiieklnnd. January 11. Conditions promise to be excellent for rhe conclusion of the Thameis Jockey Club's meeting to-morrow, and the useful fields engaged should provide intereetijig racing. Horses likely to be Avell supported include :—

11.45 —County Highweight: Dont Lap, Royal Winton and Valcuir. 12.30—Kopu Handicap: Sir Abb and Alignment. I.ls—President's Handicap: Coronis, British Columbia and Life Guard.

2—Thames Plate Handicap: Monanui, King's Archer and Prolyxo 2.4s—Turua Handicap: Ballymoney, Wnihine Relhi and Lord Willonyx.' 3.2s—Hjkutaia Stakes: Golden Princess and Velocipede. 4.10 —Ngatea Hack Handicap: Gay Rose. Mifts Im and Ford Acre. 4.55—-Farewell Handicap: Lady Spy and Karangapai. The card is as follows:—

has gone 3.22 1-5. This Avas at Ashburton, oqe of the fastest tracks in the Dominion. Edgar Wallace Avon at Ashburton in December in 3.22 3-5, and Avhile Te Moki raced promisingly at Carterton, winning in 3.27 1-5. Edgar Wallace will no doubt follow Mystery Yet in the order of favouritism. 1.5 1 HUTT HANDICAP, of £150: 3.37 class. One mile and a half. All Worthy .. scr Bonnie Direct . 12 First Aid scr Sunny Ducrow 12 Full Hand ... scr Blondie 24 Graham Direct scr Iraq 24 Warbird scr Recent form points to Full Hand, Graham Direct, Bonnie Direct and Iraq racing prominently in the Hutt Handicap, but another that must be carefully scrutinised is All Worthy, Avho displayed form above the average last season. Full Hand registered 3.22 4-5 at Addington i-ecently, when placed third to Iraq ami Dundee. Full Hand uoav meets Iraq on 24 yards better terms, but this may not be sufficient to enable him to reverse positions, as Iraq Avon rather comfortably *by two lengths. Graham Direct’s best display was that registered by him at Ashburton, recently, when he defeated Gamble in the Champion Stakes, and registered the smart time of 3.19 3-5. The order of favouritism may be Graham Direct. Iraq and Full Hand.

2.36— SUMMER HANDICAP, of £500; 4.26 class. Tavo miles.

Auburn Lad .. scr Glenrosste ... 12 Blue Mountain . scr Impromptu ...' 12 Silver de Oro . scr Lindbergh .... 36 Sunny Morn .. scr Rot POr 48 Worthy Light . scr With the exception of Silver de Oro and Sunny Morn, the rest of the runners competed against one another at Auckland, where on the first day Roi I’Or, 48y<ls„ won the Royal Cup Handicap from Worthy Light, ser., and Blue Mountain. 12 yards. On the second day, over 10 furlongs, Indianapolis, 24yds., Avon from Roi I’Or, 60yds., and Impromptu, 36yds. On the final day Worthy Light, scr., prevailed from Roi I’-Or, 60yds., and Glenrossie, 24yds., Avith Blue Mountain, 12yds., fourth. Roi I’Or and Worthy Light meet on the same terms as in Hie Royal Cup. and one is inclined to think that Roi I’Or should again beat the consistent northerner. Blue Mountain, Impromptu, and Glenrossie, meet Roi I’Or on the same terms as on the final day at Auckland, but insofar as Worthy Light is concerned, come in on 12 yards better terms. The facility Avith which each horse leaves the mark and the luck of tile-running must plaj- an important part in the decision of the race, but on the assumption that all Avill go away well and suffer no interference, form suggests that the bulk of the investments may be carried by Bine Mountain, Roi I’Or and Worthy Light. 3.18— PROGRESSIVE HANDICAP TROT, of £130: 4.57 class. Two miles. Aerial Boy ... scr Ilakatere ... 48 Chiming Wrack scr Indolent .... 43 Earl Bingen .. scr Guy o’ Mine .. 60 Harvest Dillon scr Ganton 72 Little Reta ... scr Real Boy 72 Mabel Chimes . scr Form in the Kaitoke Handicap Avill assist in the selection of the likely Avinr.er of the Progressive Handicap. The back markers should. hoAvever. have better prospects in this race, as the distance may be beyond some of the others. Harvest Dillon, Ganton, and Hakirtere are three that should have plenty of folloAvers. 4.0— PROBATIONERS’ HANDICAP, of £100) 3.5 class. One.mile and a quarter. Billy Brent ... scr Plutus scr Casino scr Rougomai .. ser Ideal . scr Guy Zolock ... 12 Handicapper .. scr Jean Parrish . 12 Mystery Yet .. ser Silver Berry .. 12 Orlelgh Mills . scr Super Tax .... 24 Pirate King .. scr Te Moki 24 Of the fresh horses in the Probationers’ Handicap. Super- Tax. Handicapper, and Rongomai may make the strongest appeal to investors. Super Tax ran fairly at Carterton. Avhile Handicapper raced promisingly at Hutt Park in October, finishing second to Sage King over a mile and a half, and to Paragon over 10 furlongs. Greatest support may be accorded Mystery Yet, Handicapper, and Super Tax. 4.42— DISPATCH HANDICAP, of £140: 3.0 class. One mile and a quarter. All Worthy .. scr Warbird .... scr Edgar Wallace-scr Bonnie Direct . 12 First Aid ser Sunny Ductoav 12 Full Hand .... scr Blondie 24 Graham Direct scr Iraq 24 Great Fast .... scr Flintlock .... 24 Stella Derby .. scr The field in the Dispatch Handicap is much the same as that in the Hutt Handicap. On the handicap as it stands, ami having regard to recent form, three horses on scratch likely be rvell supported are Edgar Wallace, Graham Direct, and Full Hand. Iraq and Bonnie Direct read best of those in the second half of the handicap. If they do not incur penalties, Graham Direct, Full Hand, and Iraq may be the popular selections. KIA ORA HANDICAP, of £200: 2.43 class. One mile and a quarter. Blue Mountain scr Glenrossie .. 24 Gold Country . scr Impromptu . 24 Mountain Dell scr Lindbergh .. 24 Silver de Oro . 12 Roi POr 4S Auburn Lad .. 24 The distance of the Kia Ora Handicap is likely to suit Impromptu better than that of tlie Summer Handicap, and his third to Indianapolis and Roi I’Or points to an early return to his best form. Blue Mountain Avon the Cui> Trial at the Hutt Park in October, and should again go Avell. Silver de Oro can be relied upon for a stout effort. Avhile Glenrossie cannot be passed over lightly, though so far he has run his best races at Addington. The order of favouritism may be Roi I’Or, Impromptu, and Glenrossie. (Late Sporting on Page 2.)
