TROTTING TO-DAY
Dominion’s Best Engaged WELLINGTON MEETING Prospects and Form Reviewed (By “Overcheck.”) The meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club, Avhich is being held at Hutt Park to-day, promises to be full of interest. I am open to correction, but speaking from memory I do not think that the club has ever before provider! two races the same day for horses eligible to run in the Ncav Zealand Cup. It is unfortunate that Indianapolis Avas not accepted for, but rhe field as it stands is a particularly strong one, and those Avho support the Avinner may regard themselves as fortunate, for the race bears a very open appearance. The course is in splendid order and the club officials are sparing no pains to ensure that the programme will be carried out smoothly and expeditiously. . As usual, a special rail and bus service to and from the course has been arranged, and all that is now required to make the gathering a successful one is fine weather. The programme is as folloAvs:— 12.30" KAITOKE HANDICAP TROT, of £100; 3.42 class. One mile and a half. Aerial Boy .. scr Blue and Gold . 24 Chiming Wrack scr Indolent 30 Earl Bingen .. scr Ilakatere 30 Harvest Dtllon scr Guy o’ Mine .. 48 Little Beta .... scr Mataunga .... 48 Mabel Chimes . scr Gaiiton 60 Summertime .. scr Real Boy 60 Of those on scratch in the Kaitoke. Handicap, Chiming Wrack, Little Reta and Harvest Dillon Avill probably be accorded most support. The first-named has started four times and has been placed in three races. At Addington on January 2 she was third.to Norma Bingen and Flotsam, registering 3.26. Little Reta has won, tAvo races this season. Al Forbury in November she defeated Norma Bingen by half a length Avhen in receipt of 84 yards. Harvest Dillon raced promisingly at Wellington in September. Avhen he was conceding Mataunga 36 yards .it one mile and a half, and 48 yards at two miles Of those m the second half of the handicap. Hakalere, Guy o’ Mine, Mataunga and Ganton Avill probably make the greatest appeal. At Auckland reeentlj’ Ganton defeated Mataunga at a mile and a half by a length and a quarter. each starting from the same mark, bnt later Guy o’ Mine and Mataunga were second and third respectively to Wahnooka. Ganton being fourth. On this occasion the latter was conceding 24 and 12 yards respectively to Guv Mine and Mataunga. On Auckland form Mataunga may do of the three. ITakatoro ran ppeond to Nonna Bingen at Addington on Ne\A- Year’s Day. and I am inclined to think that he may cause most trouble to Chiming Wrack. Little Reta and Hnrveit Dillon. 1.12 p.m.—
GRACE-FIELD TRIAL HANDICAP, of £100; 3.43 class. Ono mile and a half. Casino scr Pirate King .. scr Ideal scr Guy Zolock .... 12 Mystery Yet .. scr To Moki 24 Orlelgh Mills . scr Edgar Wallace 36 Plutus scr
In (he Gracefield Handicap the betting Avill probably be restiefed to M.vstery Yet. Edga 'Wallace and Te Moki. The first of this trio has raced very consistently, and
