The Paraparaumu Camp Site
Sir,—l was not surprised to see a letter on the subject of the Paraparaumu camp site. I have been into many camps throughout the North Island, doing three trips yearly. Last Labour Day week-end I urpAiised myself a short stay at this delightful little seaside resort. Arrived at the township, .1 was greeted automobile association’s signboard, ‘To the camp site.” After a two-mue run down this road to the beach, I failed to see any further boards, so inquired at the local tea-rooms. They did not know of any site, but directed me to inquire at the local store. Here I was instructed to “follow that road and take the third turning.” I was again doomed to disappointment, through the absence of direction boards, so turned to a resident for further information. This man thought that “the site was over there.” This “site” would barely, take one car, let alone a tent, and was minus taps or conveniences of any kind. In disgust we drove on to Otaki, and were thoroughly satisfied. I would suggest that the camp site board, erected on the main road, oe removed, until such time as a camp site is provided. lam not the only one who has been had by this board.—l am, etc., REGULAR CAMPER. Wellington, January 10.
