Some time ago a visitor to New Brighton got into difficulties in the water and was assisted ashore by the patrol. She was taken to the Surf Club's pavilion where she received treatment. The question afterwards arose as to how the patient was to proceed home. No member had a car available and it was suggested that a local taxi should be used, to which the patient agreed. Before engaging the taxi a member asked is she was willing to pay the expense and was somewhat astonished when she replied. “Oh, doesn't the Surf Club pay for thatS”
