The chess cbamuionship has ended. The final placing.? were : C. J. Purdy, 1; G. H. Hastings, 2; M. E. Goldstein, 3; C. Watson, 4. / Hastings, by defeating Koshnitzky, the title-holder, killed the latter’s last chance of a prize. The contest is claimed to have been the most successful yet held in Australia.
