Northerly Wind at Wellington

In the early morning at AVeilington the weather wits dull and threatening. A few very light showers fell in the city, but only 0.01 inch was recorded at the meteorological station at Kelburn. In the eastern suburbs there were some brief but heavy downpours. After 8 a.m., the weather, although still remaining cloudy, gradually improved. A squally northerly wind, which at times reached gale force, blew throughout Monday night, but yesterday afternoon moderated gradually. The minimum temperature on Monday night was 66.3 degrees, the maximum yesterday 73.4. and the temperature at 4 p.m. yesterday was 70.4. Sultry conditions were experienced at Masterton.' There was a moderate north-westerly wind, which brought with it occasional driving rain showers.
