FIRE IN TIMBER YARD
Bad Outbreak at Blenheim By Telegraph—Press Association. Blenheim, January 8. Breaking the prolonged spell of comparative immunity from serious fires a disastrous blaze’ last evening swept a timber yard and joinery factory, owned by Mr. A. A. Cresswell, in Warwick .Street. It also engulfed a neighbouring four-roomed cottage, owned’ and occupied by Mr. Albert AViblin. A high north-west wind drove the flames from the engine-house through the buildings and piles of timber before the brigade could arrive. The whole place was an inferno. The brigade had a desperate fight in the intense heat, but saved only a few stacks of timber to the windward. The estimated value of the stock, maclynery and building exceeds £2OOO. The insurances amount to only £6OO in tlie London and Lancashire office. Mr. Wiblin was not insured.
