NAZI DEMONSTRATION
Questions as to Cause PAPERS CONFISCATED (Received January 7, 7.30 p.m.) Berlin, January 6. Herr Hitler's speech at the secret demonstration on Thursday remains unpublished. This leads to the supposition that the meagre official summary was couched so that the real purpose is concealed. The Press usually publishes' the full text of Herr Hitler’s speeches. Hence it is being asked what crisis was responsible for the meeting. Herr Rosenberg, a “Times” cable states, declares that Herr Hitler’s mighty speech has dissolved remnants of past misunderstandings and asserts that individual English correspondents in Germany have apparently agreed to distort the report of the conclave by the interspersion of unfair comments. The “Daily Telegraph,” “Manchester Guardian,” “News-Chronicle” and several French papers have been confiscated oh account of the reports of the conclave. ■ TO PROBE MYSTERY German Leaders’ Resolve DEATHS INJUNE RISING (“Times” Cable.) (Received January 6, 7.30 p.m.) London, January 7. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” says that the elucidation of the mystery of the deaths of General you Schleicher and his wife, who were shot while the former was resisting arrest at the time of the June 30 rising, was undertaken at a conclave of German leaders on January 3. The Reichswehr, particularly fellow officers, have long felt that their honour demanded the clearing up of the situation. Apparently General Goering was satisfied with the conclave, but the tenor of the remarks is unlikely to be .ascertainable before the Saar plebiscite is concluded
