Club Matches at Trentham

PETONE SCORES IMPROVE

The Petone Rifle Club fired the first competition for 1935 over the 500 yards range at Trentham on Saturday, the. day’s shooting counting for the second handicap scries, and Longfield handicap series. The attendance was only fair, as several members arc still on holiday. The shooting conditions were almost ideal, although a light variable right wind (southerly) required close attention, and necessitated one or two degrees of windage alterations between most shots.

The best range scores were a distinct improvement on recent performances. S. C. Higgins, a comparatively new member to' the club, was unlucky in not registering a “possible,” his fifth shot being an “inner,” making 49 out of 50. O. Pedersen had an “eight-bull” finish to record 48. S. C. Higgins in his second shoot mad 47, and three members (T. McNab, O. Pedersen, T. Chapman) registered 46 each.

'The outstanding aggregate oft the gun for the day was secured by S. C. Higgins, with 96 out of the possible 100. O. Pedersen followed with 94, T. Chapman 92, T. Warburton 90, T. McNab 89. Next Saturday the range will be 900 yards, the day’s shooting counting for the same competitions. The following are the scores:—

KARORI COMPETITIONS The Karori Itifle Club fired a weekly competition at Trentham on Saturday, the range being 500 yards. Weather conditions were good, but other factors not unfamiliar to riflemen militated against high scoring. The highest score was made by H. H.
