Goods Stolen Years Ago
RACECOURSE DISCOVERY. Dominion Special Service. ' Levin, January 5. While they were encamped on the Levin Racecourse, some of the Wellington City Mission members removed a floorboard from one of the buildings to recover an article they had lost. Beneath, they discovered a suitcase containing mostly ladies’ wearing apparel, together with a small quantity of jewellery. The case, with its contents, was handed to the police, and the contents have been identified as some of the articles which were stolen by some person who broke into a Levin residence about 2} years ago. -At the time of the burglary, meticulous pains were taken bj’ the police force to recover the articles, but without avail. Although some of the articles have been damaged by dampness, their recovery is a source of great satisfaction to the owner.
Besides the clothing, most of the jewellery has also been identified by twb residents of this district, whose premises were entered by burglars about the same time.
The clothing and other goods stolen was valued at about £5O, while that which has been recovered is probably worth about £2O.
