Tragic End to Fishing Expedition ONE MAN DROWNED Accident on Arapuni Lake By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, January 6. A fishing expedition organised ou Arapuni Lake last evening by four well-known residents of Te Awamutu bad a tragic ending when one member of the party, Frank Teddy, married, aged about 45 years, was drowned when the boat capsized Mr. Teddy was a blacksmith by trade and has two adult children. Other members of 'the party were Messrs. C. R, Sherley. R. A. Marsh and B. Clifford, who were all fully clothed and reached the shore only after some difficulty. The party set out by car for Arapuni. The boat, which was the property of Mr. Marsh, was driven by an outboard motor and was frequently used for fishing trips. When about eight miles above the dam, the boat, which was travelling at a fair speed, capsized, and the four men were thrown into the water. They could all swim with the exception of Mr. Teddy. He, however, was able to reach the overturned boat, but was unable to obtain a good hold. Alter a short time he fell back into the water and was not seen again. Mr. Marsh, who is J strong swimmer, succeeded in pushing the boat ashore with Mr. Clifford clinging to it, while Mr. Sherley was able to reach the shore unaided. There was a strong wind blowing at the time.

The survivors righted the boat and, finding it was useless searching for Mr. Teddy in the dark, took the boat back to Arapuni, using an oar and an improvised paddle.
