HAIRDRESSERS’ PICNIC
Maidstone Park Gathering Hairdressers yesterday travelled to Maidstone Park for the annual picnic of the Wellington Hairdressers’ Association. Men, women and children w.ere.present in fairly large numbers, and enjoyed the sport that the committee, consisting of Messrs. T. Tierney, A. Roxburgh, and B. Mills, had arranged for them. A novel feature of the day was the 100 yards scratch race for the Riverhead Gold Annual Cup. This is for competition among financial members of the union, and will become the property of the person winning it three times in succession. Results of the races are as follow:— Tiny tots : Owen Gordon, 1; Mary Spittali, 2. Girls, 4to 7 years: M. Moncrieff, 1: D. Penfold. 2. Girls, 10 to 12 years: Irene Gordon, 1; Elaine Penfold, 2.
