Sports Events Postponed in

Australian Cities

Sydney, January 5.

All forms of sport except the swimming championships were postponed today owing to drenching rain. llie Moorefield races are off till Thursday, and the women’s cricket Test till Monday. The Weather Bureau says that a cyclonic disturbance is causing unsettled weather in east and south-east Australia, with danger of floods, chiefly in western and southern rivers At Melbourne, owing to heavy rain, the tennis championships and all sports were postponed. At Brisbane boisterous weather caused the abandonment of all sports except racing throughout the metropolitan area.
