RELIGIOUS SERVICES. LECTURE ON~BIBLE TRUTH (God Willing) T 0.0. F. HALL, ALLEN STREET, SUNDAY AT 7 P.M. Subject: THE COMING NEW HEAVENS AND NEW EARTH “WE. ACCORDING TO HIS PROMISE, LOOK FOR NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH. WHEREIN DWELLETH RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
(2 Pct. 3:13). In the course of this address evidence will be produced from the Scriptures to show : ■ (1) THAT the expression in Scripture “the heavens and the earth” at times is synonymous with and refers to, “this present evil world” —“the world' of the ungodly.” (2 Pet. 3:6-7, 2 Pet. 2:5, Gals. 1:4, Gen. 6:11-12, Isa. 11:4, Jer. 6:18-19, Jer. 51:7, Hag. 2:6-7, Matt. 24:29, etc.). (2) THAT in the purpose of God the existing “world of the ungodly” is destined to “pn=s away” to be superseded by a new "world’ (“the world to come” —Mark 10:30) constituted upon godly principles which will be enforced upon all nations. (1 John 2 :17, 2 Cor. 4 :18, 1 Cor. 7:31, Heb«. 11:8-16, Isa. 65:17, Isa. 66:22, 2 Pet. 3:13. Ira. 26-9, Rev. 2:26-27. Rev. 19:15). (3) THAT this great change will be accomplished by the second coming of Jesus Christ, who as “Heir of all things” (Hebs. 1:2), will return to take possession of the earth to transform it from its existing degrading, sinful, ungodly, chaotical condition to one in which righteousness, godliness, peace, goodwill, plenty and untold blessings for “all families of the earth” will prevail. (Acts 17:31, Acts 1:11, Acts 3:19-21, Psa. 2:7-9, Zech. 9 :10, Zech. 14:9, Dan. 7:13-14, Matt. 19:28, Psa. 67:4. Psa. 72, Isa. 2, Isa. 11, Jer. 23:5-6, Gals. 3:8, Gen. 22:18, etc., etc.).
