Outbreak in New York Tenement MEN FALL AS STAIRS COLLAPSE By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, (Received January 3, 8 p.m.) New York, January 2 As the climax to a series of disastrous tenement house fires in the' last few months, which have taken a toll of many lives, an old building in a crowded section of Brooklyn was burnt tonight, killing two firemen and injuring at least 40 others, some very seriously. A sta'irease on which firemen were working collapsed, hurling the men into the debris and a water-filled cellar. Few local fires have taken such toll of fire-fighting forces.
