STRIKE IN COAL MINE

Men Stay Below Ground

London, January 2.

The Warsaw correspondent of “The Times’’ states that SO coalminers in the Baskra mine in Upper Silesia refuse to come to the surface. They have been seven days 250 ft. below, sitting in the mud with one lamp and little food. Four brought a sick comrade to the surface. They were prevented from returning. It has been suggested that the authorities should flood the mine if the men do not come to light by a specified time. The men allege that money due to them was unpaid when work was suspended.
